A substantial petrified wood slab with beautifully preserved growth patterns and a warm, earthy palette of cream, caramel, amber, rust, and deep brown.

Measuring approximately 6.5" x 5.0", this specimen has been cut and polished to reveal the internal structure of the ancient wood. Sweeping bands radiate outward from the center, with visible growth patterns and contrasting mineralized areas creating an almost topographic appearance across the face.

The coloration is especially striking on this piece. Translucent smoky-brown and honey-toned sections sit alongside creamy mineralized wood, while rusty red and orange accents provide concentrated areas of warmer color near the center. Natural fractures and mineral-filled seams cross the surface, adding another layer of texture to the preserved structure.

Its large size and irregular natural outline make this an impressive cabinet specimen and an excellent display piece for a natural history collection.

Petrified wood forms when buried plant material is gradually mineralized, with minerals replacing or filling the original organic tissues while preserving portions of the wood's structure. The result is stone that can retain remarkably recognizable patterns from the original tree.

As a natural fossil specimen, this piece contains fractures, pits, mineral-filled seams, irregular edges, and other naturally occurring characteristics, all of which can be seen in the photographs.
