Ethical Sourcing
Q: Where do you source your bones, furs, and natural materials?
Every item I offer is sourced with intention, care, and respect for the natural world. I prioritize small-scale, respectful sourcing and do not use materials from industrial fur farms.
My materials come from a mixture of:
-
Roadkill and nature-finds
-
Lawful, licensed hunting and trapping (US-based hunters and trappers, primarily in the Southeast and Midwest)
-
Small-scale meat farms (not factory farms), where the goal is to honor the animal by using every part
-
Antique and estate natural history materials (where noted)
Most of the furs I use are sourced from lawful hunters and trappers. My rabbit furs, specifically, come as a by-product from small rabbit meat farms—operations that seek to make full use of each animal and reduce waste.
Bones are sourced in small batches—typically just a few at a time—from a similar blend of hunters, road finds, and small farms.
I understand that “ethical” and “sustainable” mean different things to different people. I aim to be transparent in how I source so that you can decide if Flora & Bone aligns with your values.
Legal & State Restrictions
Q: Are there restrictions on what can be shipped to my state?
All materials used in Flora & Bone creations are lawfully obtained. That said, laws regarding possession and import of animal remains or natural materials can vary by state.
Buyers are responsible for understanding and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding possession of animal materials. Flora & Bone is not liable for any legal issues arising from the unlawful possession of an item once shipped.
If you’re aware of a restriction in your state—certain bones, furs, insects, or other materials—please reach out before purchasing. I'm happy to work with you on a custom substitute or modification so you can still enjoy a piece that aligns with local laws.
Shipping & Processing
Q: How long will it take for my order to ship?
Orders typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom orders or special requests may take a bit longer—I'll let you know if there's a delay. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as it’s on the way.
Q: What shipping methods do you use?
I primarily use USPS (Priority or First Class) for domestic shipping, with tracking included. If you need expedited shipping, please send a message before ordering. Each piece is carefully packaged to protect delicate specimens in transit.
Q: What are your shipping rates?
Orders ship at a flat rate of $8 to keep costs predictable. Free shipping is offered on orders over $50 within the United States.
Returns & Exchanges
Q: Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the delicate and one-of-a-kind nature of curated specimens, returns and exchanges are not accepted. However, if your item arrives damaged, please reach out within 3 days of delivery with photos, and I’ll do my best to make it right.
Cancellations
Q: Can I cancel my order after it's been placed?
I do not accept cancellations once an order has been placed. Each piece is either one-of-a-kind or begins processing shortly after purchase, so please be sure before you buy. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out before placing your order.
Custom Orders
Q: Can I request a custom order?
Absolutely. If you have something specific in mind—a certain flower, type of bone, or crystal—I’d love to collaborate. Just reach out via the Send a Raven page.
International Sales
At this time, Flora & Bone ships within the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C. Many of the natural materials I work with—bones, furs, and botanical specimens—face strict customs regulations in other countries. International and U.S. territory shipping is not available at present due to customs and material restrictions.

Terms & Conditions
Q: What should I know before ordering?
By placing an order, you agree that you’ve read the item descriptions and photos carefully. Due to the nature of handmade and curated items, slight variations are normal and part of the charm. I reserve the right to decline custom requests that don’t align with my sourcing ethics or aesthetic to maintain the integrity of the collection.
Q: Do natural specimens have imperfections?
Yes. Natural history specimens may show minor variations, asymmetry, small imperfections, or signs of natural wear. These characteristics are part of their authenticity and do not indicate damage or defects.
Q: Will my specimen last forever?
Organic materials can change over time depending on humidity, light exposure, temperature, and handling. While I take care in sourcing and preparing each piece, long-term preservation depends on proper display and care by the collector.
Q: How should I display and care for my specimens?
Avoid direct sunlight, high humidity, and frequent handling. Dust gently with a soft brush or microfiber cloth. For domes and frames, avoid prolonged moisture exposure.
Q: Are Flora & Bone items safe to handle?
Some items may contain sharp edges, delicate glass, or organic materials. All pieces are intended for decorative and educational purposes only and are not toys. Please keep items out of reach of children and pets.
Q: Do these items have spiritual, healing, or scientific properties?
Items are sold as decorative and educational objects. No medical, spiritual, or scientific claims are made or implied.
Q: Can I use your photos or content?
All photographs and written content on this site are the property of Flora & Bone and may not be reproduced, redistributed, or used without permission.
Q: Are these specimens authentic?
Yes. Each piece is individually sourced and curated. Where known, origin details are included in product listings. Many items originate from small-scale collectors, ethical suppliers, hunters, farms, estate collections, and established natural history sources.
Q: What happens with my personal information?
Your privacy is important to me. I only use your information to fulfill your order or respond to inquiries. I’ll never sell or share your data with third parties. The site uses secure payment processing and encrypted connections to keep your info safe.
