Petrified wood forms when buried wood is gradually replaced by minerals while retaining much of its original structure. Over millions of years, silica-rich groundwater preserves the material as stone, often creating striking patterns of color and texture that reflect both the original wood and the conditions of fossilization.

This polished petrified wood freeform displays vivid bands of red, rust, cream, and brown across multiple faces. The upper portion features bold red coloration with sweeping grain-like patterns, while the lower half transitions into lighter mineral-rich layers that create strong visual contrast. Natural variations in color and structure remain visible throughout the specimen, highlighting its fossil origin and geologic history.
