An exceptional Mexican Crazy Lace Agate freeform, polished into a tall teardrop that beautifully showcases the stone’s famously intricate patterning.
 
Measuring approximately 4.8" tall x 2.5" wide, this substantial piece is covered in elaborate fortification bands, lace-like formations, orbicular details, and shifting patterns in rust red, burnt orange, cream, peach, white, tan, and smoky gray. Both faces are completely different, making this an especially interesting specimen to display and examine from every angle.
 
Several areas contain small natural pockets and crystalline cavities, adding texture and depth among the densely patterned agate. Fine natural fractures and healed lines travel through the stone and become part of the composition, breaking the bands into almost mosaic-like sections.
 
The freeform is polished on both faces and around the edges, allowing the remarkable patterning to continue around the entire specimen. Its narrow teardrop profile also allows it to stand upright without a separate display stand.

Crazy Lace Agate is a variety of banded chalcedony found primarily in northern Mexico and prized for its extraordinarily complex patterns. Rather than forming simple parallel bands, successive layers of silica create tight curves, loops, eyes, fortifications, and lace-like structures, giving each cut surface a completely unique appearance.
 
Natural fractures, healed fissures, small cavities, pits, and variations in the polish are characteristic of natural stone and are visible in the photographs.
