Lace agate is a banded variety of chalcedony formed as silica-rich fluids are deposited in successive layers within cavities in volcanic rock. Variations in mineral content and growth conditions create the intricate fortification patterns and delicate banding that make each specimen unique.

This polished lace agate sphere features an intricate network of pale gray and cream banding surrounding numerous natural druzy-lined openings. The layered patterns wrap continuously around the sphere, creating a striking contrast between smooth polished surfaces and sparkling crystalline pockets. Fine fortification lines, open cavities, and subtle translucency give the specimen exceptional visual depth from every angle.

Selected for its unusual combination of detailed banding and abundant druzy exposure, this piece offers both the geometric structure of lace agate and the texture of an exposed crystal formation.
