A small collection of four authentic Florida fossils representing animals that lived in and around the state's ancient rivers, wetlands, and coastal environments.
 
Each collection contains four different fossil specimens: an alligator tooth, a shark tooth from Florida's Bone Valley region, an alligator gar scale, and a partial or naturally worn manatee tooth. Together, they offer a compact introduction to Florida paleontology and an opportunity to examine fossils from several very different types of aquatic vertebrates.
 
Florida's fossil record preserves evidence of dramatically changing environments over millions of years. Marine deposits contain abundant shark remains, while rivers and other freshwater environments preserve fossils from animals including alligators, gar, and manatees. Teeth and scales are particularly likely to enter the fossil record because their dense, mineralized tissues are more resistant to decay than most of the skeleton.
 
These are intentionally small, naturally worn, partial, or otherwise imperfect fossils, making the collection an affordable entry point for new fossil collectors while still providing genuine specimens with an interesting natural history.
 
The four fossils are presented together in a protective display case. Information about the collection and its contents is printed on the reverse.
 
Because these are genuine fossils, every specimen is unique. Size, shape, color, preservation, wear, and completeness will vary. Photographs show examples of the collections available; you will receive a comparable set containing the same four types of fossils, but not necessarily the exact specimens pictured.
