Night bloom.
This framed Angamiana floridula specimen, commonly known as the giant coconut cicada, is presented mid-flight against a dark textile backing, layered with dried botanicals and a pale crescent moon. Translucent wings catch the light softly, revealing warm amber veining and fine structural detail, while the surrounding florals ground the composition with weight and texture.
Unlike a traditional flat specimen mount, this piece is built with depth in mind. The cicada appears suspended above a low botanical landscape, creating a quiet sense of movement, part still life, part nocturne.
The presentation remains restrained despite its complexity: a black frame, limited palette, and carefully controlled negative space allow the specimen to remain the focal point.
